The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Family & Child Services Caseworker.
JOB SUMMARY:
The caseworker will assist and provide Indian clients comprehensive community, social, and pro-family services to promote stability in Indian households. The Caseworker will also provide direct services to at-risk families as well as families ordered by the Tribal Court into reunification services or services designed to prevent out-of-home placement of an Indian Child. The Caseworker will also recruit and facilitate appropriate foster homes from Tribal Member children in need of care.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA degree preferred and/or at least 3-5 year work experience in this field.
- Three years current work experience in Indian related community social services functions desired.
- California Driver’s license required.
- This position involves regular contact and/or control over minor children, as a result, a person who has been found criminally or civilly responsible for the abuse or neglect of a child, by any court, will not be eligible for employment in this position
- Must be willing to submit to background check and fingerprinting.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Indian preference.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Caseworker will receive complaints or referrals of at-risk youth, at risk families, and allegedly abused or neglected children and shall, with the consultation and under the direction of the
- Tribal Social Worker and Community Services Manager, shall investigate all such referrals and make the appropriate reports. Further, will assist in the coordination with tribal and county staff to ensure a proper investigation and where necessary, coordinate with the Office of Tribal Attorney to file a petition with the court for a Child In Need of Care.
- Will assist Indian children and their parents who are in child custody proceedings and placements to locate and obtain any needed services as ordered by the Court or directed by the Tribal Social Worker, including assisting by helping to locate appropriate housing, transportation, service providers or other necessary resources that contribute to child safety and planning.
- Will assist in locating, certifying, and supervising foster, relative or other tribal child care placements.
- The Caseworker shall be responsible for identifying interested parties and organizing Family Unity Conferences, including sending out notice of such conferences, in each case at regular intervals to insure family input and participation in case decision making.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams and staff meetings.
- Provides linkage, referral, advocacy, and service planning and crisis support as needed.
- Monitors compliance with reunification plans of each case and consults with Social Worker and Community Services Manager on client compliance with service plans.
- Monitors visitation with parents when children are placed out of the home under guidelines established by the department or the Social Worker or the Court.
- Caseworker is required to appear in tribal court to testify on case status, develop and submit case plans under direction of Social Worker and make Department recommendations.
- Assists Social Worker with Home Studies for prospective placements as well as routine home visits.
- Adhere to the policy and procedures of the Family and Child Services.
- Provide other duties and responsibilities as needed.
