The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist (Trinity). The preferred schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 7:00am-6:00pm.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a part of an interdisciplinary team, the dental hygienist is a dental health specialist that prevents and treats oral and systemic disease through education and therapies for overall patient wellbeing. Responsibilities include the following: assess oral health, identify signs of disease, create treatment plans, and provide preventative and non-surgical therapies.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of patient admission, triage, transfer, and discharge procedures and documentation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1. Performs all skills as defined by the RRIHC Scope of Services.

2. Review health histories and taking vitals to identify medical risk level and any conditions that would influence treatments.

3. Expose, evaluate and interpret diagnostic radiographs.

4. Produce high quality intra-oral and extra-oral photographs for diagnostic records.

5. Preliminary examination including periodontal charting, intra and extra oral examination of the soft tissues, charting lesions, existing restorations and missing teeth, classify occlusion and myofunctional evaluation.

6. Assess oral health and identify signs of gingival and periodontal disease.

7. Collaborate with other dental and/or medical providers to synthesize information to plan, implement and evaluate dental hygiene care.

8. Perform dental prophylaxis by removing plaque, calculus and stain to maintain oral health

9. Perform hand and/or ultrasonic scaling, root planning, and soft tissue curettage as non-surgical therapies to treat periodontal disease.

10. Perform supportive periodontal therapy to achieve an acceptable level of stability and health after periodontal treatment.

11. Apply pit and fissure sealants to prevent tooth decay.

12. Apply fluoride varnish treatments as a preventative service.

13. Apply desensitizing agents to coronal and root surfaces as needed for sensitivity

14. Apply anti-microbial agents as needed.

15. Apply silver diamine fluoride for caries control and management.

16. Polish and contour restorations.

17. Administer topical and local anesthetic agents for pain control.

18. Administer nitrous oxide and oxygen when needed as an anxiolytic.

19. Promote oral health by educating patients and caregivers with an emphasis on oral disease processes, bacteria etiology, diet and nutrition.

20. Assess oral home care routines and create a custom regimen based on patient needs.

21. Inform patients and caregivers on the oral systemic link of many health conditions and illnesses.

22. Research and evaluate oral health care products and treatment for safety and efficacy.

23. Scheduling of all appointment types to optimize Dentist’s and Hygienist’s schedules to be efficient, productive and manageable.

24. Documenting treatment and planned care in electronic health records with appropriate CDT and ICD coding.

25. Remain up to date with current universal precautions and sterilization techniques to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases.

26. Work at other Redding Rancheria health campuses as needed.

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide dental care services to patients within the clinic service area. Assist the Dental Director with the coordination of administrative procedures.

11. Ensures follow up with patients regarding missed appointments and medication requests.
12. Rooms patients and records vital signs.
13. Reviews patient daily schedule for controlled medications and performs urine screenings for patients who are on controlled medications per DEA guidelines
14. Completes prior authorizations and appeals for patient medications.
15. Develops and maintains knowledge of a community-based network of alternative modes of care; aids clients to connect with community-based organizations to support and enhance wellness.
16. Answers and triages department calls, and distributes department referrals with guidance, in accordance with identified department service levels.
