Sr. Director of Organizational Communication

The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Sr. Director of Organizational Communication. This position is open to Tribal Members and internal applicants only.

JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction from the Executive Team, incumbent oversees all formal and informal communication internally throughout Redding Rancheria with employees and Tribal Members and externally with outside entities. Will work with leaders across the organization to identify, define, and produce messaging based on the needs of Redding Rancheria. Incumbent facilitates all special events for Redding Rancheria, oversees the organization of social medial communications, fosters relationships through networking in the community to leverage opportunities for growth and collaboration, and handles communications issues that may arise. Incumbent develops and provides leadership trainings to the organizations management teams to enhance effective communication.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. A bachelor’s level degree in business administration, management, marketing, communications, journalism, public policy, hospitality, or other related field is preferred
2. A minimum of five (5) years of related experience and/or training is preferred or Master’s Degree in related field.
3. Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
4. Indian preference.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Design and articulate a comprehensive vision and strategy for Organizational Communication.
2. Implement the strategic goals and objectives of the Organizational Communication division, concurrently with providing direction and leadership towards the achievement of the organizations philosophies, mission, and vision. Helping align Redding Rancheria’s mission, vision, and core values.
3. Responsible for all special events and publicity functions for the Redding Rancheria tribal entities.
4. Participates in local and regional service and civic groups to gather information and seek support of these groups in charitable activities on behalf of the Redding Rancheria.
5. Lead role clarity and process improvement initiatives across multiple programs, including the alignment between leaders, teams, and individuals to ensure effective communication.
6. Reviews and approves all advertising campaigns for organizational communication purposes, including television, radio, outdoors, and print ads for Redding Rancheria Tribal entities.
7. Develops press releases, interviews, press conferences, and media packets with the media for the Redding Rancheria Tribe regarding events, programs, and services.
8. Plan, design, implement, and monitor social media campaigns that help achieve Organizational Communication goals.
9. Monitor social media trends, including developments in design, strategy, and innovation to stay relevant and effective.
10. Assist in the creation of digital, video, audio, and print content.
11. Create positive relationships within the community through networking with other organizations.
Streamlining the flow of information within the organization.
13. Oversees the development and management of the Organizational Communications budgets. Manages financial aspects, including purchasing, budgeting, and review of financials statements and performance.
14. Oversee the selection and/or development of materials and appropriate delivery methods (e.g., instructor led, web demos, video conferences, workshops) for programs for our leadership teams on a variety of topics (e.g., communications trainings, social media, and other communication).
15. Assist in developing, implementing and drafting policies, procedures, resolutions ordinances.
16. Lead the design, development, and implementation of programs, policies, and strategies tailored to meet program goals.
17. Conduct assessments, analyze data, and diagnose organizational needs regarding information measures that will improve the efficacy of the organizational communication.
18. Uphold accountability for continuous improvement and ensure that Organizational Communication initiatives align with Tribal strategy and objectives.
19. Building good working relationships with other departments.
20. Improve trust in the workplace and make communication more fun.
21. Oversee the leadership development planning process for key employees.
22. Develop various curriculums and deliver a variety of in-house trainings for management teams.
23. Provide leadership and direction to a team that focuses on improving the organization’s capability through the alignment of strategy, structure, people, and management processes.
24. Use data, analytics and insights as valuable tools to increase the Tribe’s ability to create impact and support the top priorities of the Tribe.
25. Review, analyze and report on legislation affecting the Tribe and provide recommendations for any actions needed.
26. Incorporation and further development of positive ethical tribal responsibilities.
27. Conduct research for various and current socially responsible practices internally and externally in the community to benefit the Tribe and tribal community.
28. Commit to achieving positive outcomes for the Tribe, environment, and society.
29. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.
30. Responsible for the professional growth of the Organizational Communication Division team members through training, motivation, mentoring, coaching, and organizational development strategies.

Public Relations Specialist

***This position is open through Tuesday, June 4, 2019.***

The Public Relations Specialist performs a variety of assignments that support the Public Relations Division, including the coordination of print jobs as required and the planning of all Redding Rancheria events.  This position will plan, prepare, and distribute tribal documents, including press releases, at the Director of Public Relations’ request.  The position will also provide reporting, general news and feature writing, and photography for tribal publications, which cover a variety of tribal and community events, meetings, and activities for the newspaper.

Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

  • A High School diploma, or the equivalent thereof, is preferred
  • Experience in giving presentations to informal and formal groups in a variety of settings and atmospheres is preferred
  • A valid California driver’s license and current insurance is required
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening
  • Indian preference.
