The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Grant Writer.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for administration, research and coordination of new funding sources such as local, state, and federal grant opportunities for the Redding Rancheria. This position will serve as the central contact for grant application process and works directly with departments and the Redding Rancheria entities to gather required information to coordinate and write grant applications to obtain funding to develop tribal programs. Assists departments and program managers to ensure that all tribal policies, and grant reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, creative writing, or related field.
- Minimum of two years of grant writing and/or grant management experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in an accounting environment; accounting experience in a governmental environment preferred.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Indian preference applies.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Research and identify grant funding opportunities for the Redding Rancheria and its entities to obtain funding for existing and new programs.
- Adheres to all grant deadlines for grant application process and assists with required grant reporting.
- Works closely with staff and other organizations to research and understand the history, structure, objectives, programs, and financial needs of the entire organization.
- Draft grant proposals and supporting documents based on the funding requirements of the respective grantor organization.
- Respond to internal and external inquires on drafted and submitted proposals.
- Assists with developing and preparing fiscal budgets for potential funding and necessary tracking and reporting documentation.
- Assist with development of necessary department policies and project management tracking and reporting requirements.
- Maintain positive relationships with fund providers and other stakeholders.
- Maintain records of all grant proposals, documents, submissions, etc.
- Maintain and submit grant reports in a timely manner, according to grant requirements.
- Conduct interviews with key employees in the organization and perform comprehensive research to complete grant project applications or required reports.
- Write compelling grant applications that display meticulous grammar and spelling.
- Assist current program managers with writing, editing, and applying for grants. This may include Head Start and Childcare, Senior Nutrition, Diabetes, LIHEAP, and NAHASDA grants.
- Perform general accounting and financial reporting functions as required for grant management and external reporting sources.
- Manage confidential information in a secure, discreet and professional manner.
- Apply analytical skills and maintain organization.
- Follow general accounting principles of governmental accounting.
- Bring to the notice of grant management, issues which affect cash flow, expenses and balances.
- Displays adherence to the Tribe’s mission.
