The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Public Relations Specialist. The preferred schedule for this position is full time.
The listed wage reflects the entry-level rate for this position. Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, education, and qualifications
JOB SUMMARY:
The Public Relations Specialist performs a variety of assignments that support the Public Relations Division, including the coordination of print jobs as required and the planning of all Redding Rancheria events. This position will plan, prepare, and distribute tribal documents, including press releases, at the Sr. Director of Organizational Communications’ request. The position will also provide reporting, general news and feature writing, and photography for tribal publications, which cover a variety of tribal and community events, meetings, and activities for the newspaper.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A High School diploma, or the equivalent
- Experience in giving presentations to informal and formal groups in a variety of settings and atmospheres is preferred
- A valid California driver’s license and current insurance is required
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Indian preference.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Produces strategic goals and objectives for the financial performance of the organization’s public relations operations.
- Manages the financial aspects of the public information budget including review of financial statements, performance and purchasing.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities at events including scheduling, positioning, set up and tear down.
- Creates templates for all communication press releases for all entities of the Tribe to present to the Sr. Director of Organizational Communication for approval.
- Participates in civic groups to gather information to seek support of these groups in charitable activities on behalf of the Tribe.
- Produces scripts for television, radio and social media advertising.
- Produces social medical posts for events, upcoming activities and updates.
- Monitors, listens and responds to the Redding Rancheria’s social media accounts and offers constructive interaction with users.
- Responsible for setting up all special events and publicity functions for all entities of the Tribe.
- Works closely with the Sr. Director of Organizational Communication to develop social media campaigns and day-to-day activities to create awareness.
- Establishes and maintains a positive Tribal image with the public.
- Determines styles, techniques and mediums best suited to produce desired effect for all publications for the Tribe.
- Coordinates the day-to-day functions of graphics and printing of publications for all assigned areas to ensure that needs are being met, including the design, review and printing of graphic artwork.
- Coordinates photography to be available for events, social media and the newsletter.
- Coordinates the calendar for Sr. Director of Organizational Communication
- Gathers information for direct mail for all public relations needs for the Tribe and its entities, which incudes special events like the Redding Rancheria Community Fund (RRCF) and the Stillwater Pow Wow.
- Prepares and maintains schedules to help the Sr. Director of Organizational Communication.
- Gets sponsors and donation items for events and activities for the Redding Rancheria Community Fund and Stillwater Pow Wow.
- Budget planning and implementation.
- Intakes and completes sponsorship information for Sharing Fund.
- Coordinates the Redding Rancheria Community Fund Advisory Board Meetings with invites, lunch, packets, and visual/audio.
- Keeps inventory of promotional items and event material.
- Attends community events, meeting, and activities as they relate to the Redding Rancheria for reporting purposes.
- Coordinates social calendars for Redding Rancheria and Redding Rancheria Tribal Health Systems.
