The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Bus Driver. The preferred schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 7:30AM to 3:30 PM.
The listed wage reflects the entry-level rate for this position. Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, education, and qualifications.
JOB SUMMARY:
Daily transportation of children and parent volunteers. Responsible for the daily smooth and safe operation of bus and bus route. Major emphasis is on safety.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
- Must have a current Class B, California Drivers License with passenger endorsement. Must have and maintain clear DMV printout, current T-01, 02, DL-51 (medical). Must have Special Drivers certificate (school bus).
- Minimum of 3 years driving a bus with an excellent safety record.
- CPR and First Aid certification bi-annually renewed.
- Must pass physical examination, including tuberculosis screening, on initial hire and annually thereafter.
- Must be fingerprinted and pass background check.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Indian preference.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
1. Maintain proper bus driver license and certification.
2. Maintain transportation records as assigned.
3. Responsible to ensure the safe transportation of each child. Within ability, ensures safety of drop off and pick up site. Informs proper authorities of any unsafe conditions.
4. Must demonstrate genuine care and concern for the children under his/her care.
5. Ensures the safety of children at all times.
6. Cultivate and maintain a positive professional working relationship with parents, other family members and /or child-care givers. Encourages and facilitates regular two-way communication.
7. Provides parent education of transportation rules and the need for such rules. Work to obtain parent cooperation.
8. Participates in Parent Meetings, Events, All Staff Days, Staff Development Days, Kid’s Counts, Policy Council; Field Trips etc.
9. Maintains confidentially in accordance with the agency policy and legal requirements.
10. Understands and implements all safety rules, emergency procedures and established policies, etc.
11. As a mandated report, can identify and will report suspected child abuse to the proper authorities following established guidelines. Ensures safety of children at all times.
12. Model positive and nurturing interactions with children, parents and staff, as outlined by the NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practices.
13. Follows the Code of Ethical Conduct as established by the NAEYC in interactions with staff, children, parents and others in the community.
14. Recognize the significance of Native American Culture and Wintu/Pit River/Yana culture in particular. Seek out community resources or research Native American reference books to find appropriate values and activities to include in bus route.
15. Attends regular staff meetings and cooperates in planning, developing and implementation of program changes and/or modifications. Shares information pertinent to each child’s development and to the smooth operations of the program.
16. Maintains busses including daily safety checks and cleanliness.
