The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist (Trinity). The preferred schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 7:00am-6:00pm.

JOB SUMMARY:

As a part of an interdisciplinary team, the dental hygienist is a dental health specialist that prevents and treats oral and systemic disease through education and therapies for overall patient wellbeing. Responsibilities include the following: assess oral health, identify signs of disease, create treatment plans, and provide preventative and non-surgical therapies.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of patient admission, triage, transfer, and discharge procedures and documentation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1. Performs all skills as defined by the RRIHC Scope of Services.

2. Review health histories and taking vitals to identify medical risk level and any conditions that would influence treatments.

3. Expose, evaluate and interpret diagnostic radiographs.

4. Produce high quality intra-oral and extra-oral photographs for diagnostic records.

5. Preliminary examination including periodontal charting, intra and extra oral examination of the soft tissues, charting lesions, existing restorations and missing teeth, classify occlusion and myofunctional evaluation.

6. Assess oral health and identify signs of gingival and periodontal disease.

7. Collaborate with other dental and/or medical providers to synthesize information to plan, implement and evaluate dental hygiene care.

8. Perform dental prophylaxis by removing plaque, calculus and stain to maintain oral health

9. Perform hand and/or ultrasonic scaling, root planning, and soft tissue curettage as non-surgical therapies to treat periodontal disease.

10. Perform supportive periodontal therapy to achieve an acceptable level of stability and health after periodontal treatment.

11. Apply pit and fissure sealants to prevent tooth decay.

12. Apply fluoride varnish treatments as a preventative service.

13. Apply desensitizing agents to coronal and root surfaces as needed for sensitivity

14. Apply anti-microbial agents as needed.

15. Apply silver diamine fluoride for caries control and management.

16. Polish and contour restorations.

17. Administer topical and local anesthetic agents for pain control.

18. Administer nitrous oxide and oxygen when needed as an anxiolytic.

19. Promote oral health by educating patients and caregivers with an emphasis on oral disease processes, bacteria etiology, diet and nutrition.

20. Assess oral home care routines and create a custom regimen based on patient needs.

21. Inform patients and caregivers on the oral systemic link of many health conditions and illnesses.

22. Research and evaluate oral health care products and treatment for safety and efficacy.

23. Scheduling of all appointment types to optimize Dentist’s and Hygienist’s schedules to be efficient, productive and manageable.

24. Documenting treatment and planned care in electronic health records with appropriate CDT and ICD coding.

25. Remain up to date with current universal precautions and sterilization techniques to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases.

26. Work at other Redding Rancheria health campuses as needed.

JOB SUMMARY:

Provide dental care services to patients within the clinic service area. Assist the Dental Director with the coordination of administrative procedures.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Graduate of accredited school of Registered Nursing and possess current/valid, unrestricted RN license to practice in the state of California.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1. Understanding and ability to perform all duties of a clinic Nurse when requested or as needed.

2. Supervise clinic RN’s, LVN’s, Medical Assistants and other assigned staff as applicable.

3. Efficiently manage the nursing resources to maintain smooth operation of daily activities and quality of patient care rendered.

4. Coordinate day to day clinic nursing services, including reviewing appointment schedule and making nurse assignments for clinicians, overseeing exam and treatment rooms, and ensuring efficient patient flow.

5. Collaborate with RN Educator in the planning of clinical orientation and ongoing training for the assigned nursing staff.

6. Assure that the nursing staff is trained to perform procedures and nursing tasks as outlined in the Nursing Procedures Manual.

7. Works collaboratively with the Nursing leadership team (Director of Nursing, Nurse Educator) to determine and evaluate staff training needs and observational feedback for process improvements.

8. Conduct performance evaluations, provide clinical guidance, and initiate other personnel actions within established guidelines or as directed by the Director of Nursing.

9. Responsible for ensuring adequate patient care supplies and equipment are available for use and, supporting inventory management (including vaccine management).

10. Ability to perform nursing assessments, treatments, and patient education consistent with clinic policies and scope of practice.

11. Monitor and assess staff performance on a daily basis to maintain productivity, ensure accountability, and support team effectiveness.

13. Demonstrate knowledge base of infection control policies and universal precautions in addition to employee safety guidelines.

14. Responsible for participation and assurance of quality measures, including but not limited to, monthly medication reconciliation (med rooms), medication inventory, crash cart medication and supply counts, ensuring all required in-clinic assigned duties are complete. Participate in quarterly pharmaceutical inspections and other regulatory inspections.

15. Maintain open communication for patients, staff, and administration to be advised of problem solving and informational changes.

16. Acts as a liaison to the Director of Nursing, facilitating communication for situational awareness and support of clinic operations.

17. Ensures regulatory compliance measures are upheld, and is an active participant with site reviews at assigned clinic.

18. Administer immunizations, injections, oral medications, appropriate treatments, and perform venipuncture/capillary draws and IV therapy as needed.

Tribal Member Youth – (For Redding Rancheria Tribal Members Only)

Please note that this opening is exclusively for enrolled members of the Redding Rancheria Tribe (ages 11-23).

Redding Rancheria Tribal Youth Members, ages 11-23, have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience/career training by working for the Redding Rancheria or one of its economic enterprises. Typically, Tribal Youth employment occurs during the summer break but this program is offered year round. There are no restrictions on the maximum number of hours they can work.

Our goal is to empower Tribal Youth by offering them diverse and enriching work experiences within our Tribal Government. We strive to foster professional growth, skill development, and deepen their understanding of the Tribe’s operations, preparing our young members for a bright and successful future.

Below are the 3 Programs Currently Exist for Redding Rancheria Tribal Youth:

  • Tribal Youth Mentorship Program
    1. Ages 11-20
    2. Requires 6-9 hours of job shadowing
    3. $250 Stipend is award after mentorship completion
  • Tribal Youth Employment Program
    1. Ages 14-18 (or until their completion/graduation of high school)
    2. Regular ongoing work shifts and schedules
    3. Tribal Youth receive regular paychecks on the payroll schedule
  • Tribal Member Professional Development Program
    1. Ages 18-23
    2. Regular work shifts and schedules are available (Program last up to 12 weeks)
    3. Profession Development Interns receive regular paychecks on the payroll schedule

JOB SUMMARY:

Facilitator of patient care in an ambulatory setting. Render assistance to the clinic providers and perform specified duties.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Admit patient to clinic, including initial triage and gathering health information.
  2. Take patient history and routine vital signs of patients, including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure; and record results in patient charts.
  3. Assist provider with medical procedures such as sutures, casts and examinations.
  4. Change dressings and apply bandages under the direction of the provider.
  5. Perform routine tests consistent with training and clinic policies (i.e., audiometry, EKG, ultrasound, oximetry, spirometry, breathing treatments, visual acuity).
  6. Assist provider in collecting of handling needed specimens (i.e. blood, urine) and prepare specimens for transfer and analysis at outside laboratory.
  7. Perform routine lab tests consistent with training and clinic policies.
  8. Administer immunizations, injections, oral/rectal/ocular/inhaled medications, and appropriate treatments.
  9. Perform venipuncture/capillary draws for obtaining blood samples.
  10. Utilize infection control policies and practice Universal Precautions.
  11. Discuss patient problems by telephone when appropriate and direct patient to proper care.
  12. Document all procedures in medical records.
  13. Perform other related duties as needed.

3. Manage and document patient care in the Electronic Medical Record; including but not limited to: patient visit, electronic prescribing, lab and order management.

4. Assure that health education is provided with each patient encounter.

5. Assist in the development of Standards of Care for the medical department.

6. Provide required federal and state ambulatory patient care data on appropriate forms.

7. Obtains appropriate consultations when problems presented are outside the scope of practice or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of patient care.

8. Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, including regularly scheduled department and provider meetings, case management, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Drug Utilization and Review, clinical audits and peer review.

9. Advise the Medical Department Management Team of any situations that may adversely impact the efficiency of the medical department.
