Rheumatologist

The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Rheumatologist.  The preferred schedule for this position is 4 10 hours shifts (specific days to be determined).

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides specialized rheumatology care in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions related to the joints, muscles, and bones consistent with the philosophy of the Redding Rancheria Tribal Health System. This position involves developing and implementing treatment plans, including monitoring and evaluating treatment results.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Licensed California Physician, Board Certified/Board Eligible in Rheumatology required.
  2. Demonstrated experience in the delivery of rheumatology care.
  3. CPR certification, ACLS, PALS certification preferred.
  4. Must be fingerprinted and pass background check.
  5. Must pass pre-employment drug screening
  6. Indian preference.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Provide direct medical services within the scope of a Rheumatologist while demonstrating awareness and sensitivity to Native American health care needs.
  2. Diagnose and treat a wide range of rheumatic diseases and conditions, including arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and lifestyle modifications.
  3. Perform and interpret diagnostic tests such as blood tests, X-rays, and ultrasound imaging relevant to rheumatic conditions.
  4. Record patient chart entries in Subjective, Objective, Assessment Plan (SOAP) format, following RRIHS policies, and Medicaid and Medicare guidelines.
  5. Assure that health education is provided with each patient encounter.
  6. Assist in the development of Standards of Care for the medical department.
  7. Provide required federal and state ambulatory patient care data on appropriate forms.
  8. Obtains appropriate consultations when problems presented are outside the scope of practice or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of patient care.
  9. Provide out-of-clinic patient services as determined with Executive Director of Health Services, including but not limited to, procedures, surgeries, deliveries, newborn care, hospice care or home visits.
  10. Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities, including regularly scheduled department and provider meetings, case management, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Drug Utilization and Review, clinical audits and peer review.
  11. Advise the Medical Department Management Team of any situations that may adversely impact the efficiency of the Medical Department.
  12. Monitor patients to determine efficacy and potential side effects of medications.
  13. Maintain interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapist, nurses, and other health care providers.
  14. Assure quality of care and safe service practices for patients and staff by adhering to policies, procedures, standards, rules, accreditation requirements, and legal regulations; participating in utilization reviews; remaining available for emergency consultations.
  15. Maintain historical records by documenting symptoms, medications, and treatment events; record patient chart entries in accordance with RRTHS policies and Medicaid and Medicare guidelines.
  16. Expand job knowledge and remain up-to-date on current rheumatology practices and treatment modalities by participating in continued educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining professional networks.
  17. Assist FNP-C/PA-C and other mid-level clinic providers by providing consultations; care presentations, chart reviews, on-the-job training, and peer review.
