Physical Therapist (Trinity)

The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Physical Therapist (Trinity).

JOB SUMMARY:

Restores patient’s function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by planning and administering medically prescribed physical therapy.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A current license as a Physical Therapist from the Physical Therapy Board of California
  • Doctorate of Sports Medicine preferred, Masters of Sports Medicine required
  • Required 5 years of experience as a Physical Therapist
  • Must be fingerprinted and pass background check.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Indian preference.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises; instructing and assisting patients in performing physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, and daily-living activities and in using assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.
  2. Evaluates effects of physical therapy treatments and fit of prosthetic and orthotic devices by observing, noting, and evaluating patient’s progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
  3. Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, nurses, or others as necessary.
  4. Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
  5. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
  6. Maintains patient confidence and protects clinic operations by keeping information confidential.
  7. Provides clinical oversight to Physical Therapist Assistants (PTA’s), delegating components of the physical therapy plan of care.
  8. Provides clear instructions and oversight to Physical Therapy Aide to maintain safety efficiency, and the quality of patient service.
  9. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  10. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  11. Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  12. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  13. Develops physical therapy staff by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training programs.
  14. Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  15. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Physical Therapy Aide

The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Physical Therapy Aide

JOB SUMMARY:
The physical therapy aide position includes considerable clerical duties and clinic up-keep responsibilities. The physical therapist aide must have physical stamina, patience, and patient focus to work effectively under the direction of the physical therapist to help patients regain and optimize movement after injury, illness, or medical procedures. The PT Aide supports physical therapy care delivery by assisting with tasks related to patient care, clerical responsibilities, and clinic safety.

 

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Moderate level of computer literacy
3. Knowledge of basic anatomy and medical terminology
4. CPR certification required
5. Must pass pre-employment drug screening
6. Indian preference

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Use medical software to schedule patients and assist with maintaining patient records.
2. Assist with management of patient referrals for physical therapy.
3. Submit requests for Partnership authorization of therapy via “TAR.” Maintain record of TAR submissions and current authorizations.
4. Build, maintain, and file patient paper charts.
5. Communicate with other clinical staff regarding patient scheduling and other needs; and taking and delivering messages.
6. Prepare clinic for patients by creating and maintaining a clean, sanitized, safe, treatment-ready environment for therapy-related activities.
7. Make initial contact with therapy patients, welcome and assist into PT clinic, answer questions and requests, and allaying fears.
8. Assist in gathering patient basic health information for the physical therapist.
9. Instruct, motivate, safeguard and assist patients practicing exercises and functional activities under direction and direct supervision of physical therapist.
10. Educate patients by demonstrating proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
11. Assist patient with compiling and printing patient home exercise programs.
12. Administer treatment modalities such as heat, ice, wax bath, ultrasound, and electrical modalities under direct supervision of physical therapist.
13. Observe patients during treatment to compile and evaluate data on patients’ responses and progress, and report to physical therapist.
14. In completion of patient visit, secure scheduling and escort (if necessary) from clinic.
15. Confer with physical therapist to discuss patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment.
16. Ensure operation of physical therapy equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctioning equipment, and requesting repairs
17. Maintain physical therapy supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing, and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
18. Serve and protects the clinic community by adhering to professional standards and adhering to federal, state, and local requirements
