The Redding Rancheria is seeking an Adult Education Advocate. The preferred schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 9:00am to 5:00pm.

The listed wage reflects the entry-level rate for this position. Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, education, and qualifications.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the Tribal Member Scholarship Program, Redding Rancheria Community Education Fund and assisting with education programs and events. Provide General Membership with specialized guidance relative to adult educational, cultural, developmental, economical, and recreational needs and opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Counseling or Human Development Degree certificate (desired, not required).
  2. Must be fingerprinted, pass background check, drug test and DMV clearance, including valid CDL.
  3. CPR/First Aid Certified or ability to obtain.
  4. Accounting background classes or experience (desired, not required).
  5. Demonstrated experience on Native American education programs.
  6. Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  7. Indian preference.
  8. Food Handlers Certificate.
  9. Must be fingerprinted and pass background check.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1. Maintain and monitor the Scholarship Program including but not limited to: Registration/Tuition, Books and Supplies, Computer Assistance, Processing monthly Living Allowance benefits, Dormitory Assistance,, Mileage and Moving Costs, Training Subsidy, RRCEF: Community Education Assistance and Scholarships.

2. Αssist with or register students in educational courses or programs.

3. Convert educational program hours into units and create individual monthly work agreements for scholarship students for the purposes of establishing a full or part time student status.

4. Responsible to check grades for all scholarship students (online and campus), ensure they are actively participating and meeting the policies and procedures under the scholarship program.

5. Determine individual student living allowance benefit amounts using proration when necessary, update the student spreadsheet on a monthly basis and submit to finance for processing.

6. Inform students of policies, procedures, and eligible benefits upon registration in the scholarship program.

7. Responsible to provide official communications to students regarding their academic standing with the scholarship program.

8. When necessary determine scholarship program repayment amounts through calculation and set-up repayment methods with student (full payment or monthly per-capita deductions).

9. Develop and maintain a database to track and report on scholarship students (degrees and certificates obtained, freebies used, and completion rate).

10. Create a file for each Tribal Member student utilizing the Scholarship Program for tracking purposes including up-to-date student portal log-in information.

11. Create a file for each Community Scholarship student utilizing the Redding Rancheria Community Education Fund.

12. Accept and prepare materials for individual RRCEF scholarship students and present to the RRCEF committee for approval. Process and distribute payments to award winners.

13. Accept and process applications for community members RRCEF educational assistance program and provide payment or reimbursement for fees associated with higher education.

14. Collect and organize information about students in order to develop and implement future changes to tribal educational programs.

15. Identify and select at risk students (youth or adult) and work with them and/or their parents to create academic goals.

16. Inform and encourage the Tribal youth and adults about career opportunities within the Redding Rancheria and its entities.

17. Research Tribal and community services for referral.

18. Research training and conferences that motivate students to do better in school and help keep interests and attitudes high.

19. Help youth or adult student’s complete educational applications (ex: School Registration, College applications, etc.).

20. Process check requests as needed for department and students.

21. As mandated, identify and report suspected child abuse to proper authorities following established guidelines. Ensures safety of children at all times during department events/sessions.

22. Compose flyers for mail outs regarding educational and career opportunities, etc.

23. Assist members with finding workshops pertaining to SAT, ACT, GED and state exit exams.

24. Keep a constant line of communication through close working relations with student’s educational institution, as well as communication with student and family.

25. Assist with and attend youth leadership activities and attend the end of year trip.

26. Coordinate with youth students to develop a pre-scholarship plan-start with 8th grade students thru high school. (classes, test requirements needed to enter secondary education, etc.).

27. Research information for administrative reports and educational opportunities.

28. Crosstrain in all areas of the Education Department.

29. Provide coverage to co-staff when necessary and serve the needs of tribal youth by assisting with the utilization of youth activity programs (educational school trips, individual youth activity funds, graduation incentives, college prep, and tutoring payments).

30. Assists with the planning of the annual 40% carnival, youth Christmas party, and Education Banquet.

Education Director

The Redding Rancheria is seeking an Education Director. This position is open to Tribal Members and Internal Candidates only.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Director of Program Services, incumbent is responsible for all programs under the Education department including: Head Start, Child Care, Youth Leadership and Enrichment Activities, The Scholarship Program, The Community Education Fund, Student Achievement, , Tutoring, Johnson O’Malley, and the School Clothing benefits program.. This includes staff supervision and the organization implementation of activities procedures that assure an efficient program and a safe environment for both children and staff. Responsible for fiscal and budgetary accountability and compliance with all state, federal and tribal guidelines and regulations. Secure program funding through the research of potential grant programs, tribal funding, and assist in writing grant proposals.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. This position requires a successful applicant to have control of, or significant contact with, a child or children. Therefore, federal law requires all applicants be subjected to a thorough criminal background investigation including a character assessment. The criminal background check will include state, federal, and tribal criminal justice reporting as well child protective services reporting. A criminal conviction, or an affirmed allegation in a child protective proceeding, of abuse or neglect of a child will disqualify the applicant from consideration for employment.

3. Preferred BA in Education, Business Management or related field.

6. Prepare and submit the annual JOM student count to the BIE.

7. Seek out and collaborate with vendors to create and purchase sashes and necklaces for 8th grade, 12th grade, and adult graduates.

8. Coordinate the annual Education Banquet awards ceremony and provide acknowledgements to students using data from the report cards of all school-aged children.

9. Coordinate the annual tribal Youth Christmas Party: purchase presents, raffle items, and mail out-of-town youth checks.

10. Attend school meetings for tribal member children including SARB meetings, special education, and other meetings as necessary for the success of our children.

11. Coordinate activities that align with meeting the tribe’s educational strategic planning goals and collaborate with the human resources department on shared goals.

12. Plans, designs and oversees the implementation of a comprehensive child development and Education programs that meets or exceeds program performance standards

13. Establish and maintain systems to document and track program performance; meet reporting and evaluation deadlines as required.

14. Ensure all Education proposals are prepared and submitted in a timely manner. Prior approval is needed from the Executive Team and Tribal Council.

15. Ensure all educational facilities meet or exceed all local, state, federal or tribal requirements.

16. Determine staff, Tribal members, local Native Americans, parents, and families’ career development and in-service training needs; develop a plan for meeting these needs.

17. Knows and ensures compliance with CCFP and Tribal regulations pertaining to menu, meal counts, family documentation, etc.

18. Ensure and maintain a safe and caring environment for children and staff and that no child/adult is discriminated against by basis of religion, race, gender or ability.

19. Ensure that all staff adheres to the NAEYC Developmentally Appropriate Practices in Head Start and Childcare Programs.

20. Provide ongoing assistance and training in locating materials and planning age appropriate classroom or meeting activities with cultural relevance.

21. Ensure all Redding Rancheria Education Department programs maintain current and complete enrollment files for all participants including an up-to-date database with addresses and phone numbers for all adult and minor tribal members for the purposes of program eligibility, mailing and other communications.

22. Ensures the development and implementation of a Parent Education program; topics to include health, nutrition, parenting, social services, kindergarten, transitions to schools, parent child relations, etc.

23. Responsible for cultivating and maintaining a positive professional working relationship with parents, and other family members and/or childcare givers. Encourage and facilitate regular two-way communication. (with all education programs)

24. Ensure that relevant councils and committees are organized and facilitated. Serve as staff support as needed. Provide in-service training as needed regarding their roles, responsibilities, and authority.
