Dental Admissions Specialist

The listed wage reflects the entry-level rate for this position. Compensation may be adjusted based on experience, education, and qualifications.

The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Dental Admissions Specialist. The preferred schedule for this position is Tuesday through Friday.

JOB SUMMARY:

Update patient information and verify insurance eligibility. Assist patients with referrals and coordination with payment through PRC department. Track lab cases and lab pickups. Check in patients, answer telephones, schedule appointments, and obtain prior authorizations for clinic dental patients. Provide clerical support related to the daily operations of the dental department.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. 1-2 years Dental Office experience strongly preferred.
  2. Basic typing and computer skills and ability to operate basic office equipment.
  3. Tuberculosis screening, Hepatitis A & B.
  4. Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  5. Indian preference.
  6. Must be fingerprinted and pass background check.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

1. Verify Native American, Employee and Dependent, or Partnership Eligibility for new patients and prior to each appointment.

2. Verify insurance or alternate resources for new patients, monthly, and prior to all appointments.

3. Enter and manage patient information in NextGen PM system.

4. Check in and out of all dental patients and update address, phone number, and alternate resource status, identifying eligibility status and obtaining treatment authorization signature.

5. Manage automated appointment reminder system and lists/reports for no shows and short call appointments.

6. Ensure Alternate Resource eligibility has been completed and patient is eligible. If not, perform verification.

7. Assist all newly registered patients with admission paperwork, answering all questions as needed.

8. Answer all telephone calls to the dental reception area promptly and courteously.

9. Schedule appointments by telephone or in person, following established appointment time/diagnosis guidelines.

10. Confirm New Patient appointments daily by calling patient 24 hours before scheduled time.

11. Coordinate the overall flow of the dental reception process.

12. Receive all clinic visitors, offering information and/or answering questions as needed.

13. Have all front desk activities fully operational at the start and end of business hours.

14. Serves as the information and communication hub for the Dental Department. Completes requests by greeting customers, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries, screening and directing patients to appropriate staff. Contacts patients directly and collects confidential information as needed.

15. Organizing and maintaining paper and electronic records and documents, including distribution and communication of required data and information using telephones, postal mail, fax and email.

16. Document, scan and maintain Dental Record information.

17. Comply with HIPAA regulations.

18. Rotate among different Redding Rancheria clinic sites when needed.
