Raven Powers-Balancing Life

“I honestly was very surprised but honored to have be chosen as a Guiding Value award winner. To be at an organization that not only listens to you but respects and values your input is really amazing. The Redding Rancheria has provided me the opportunity to spend more time with my family. I am grateful for my position with Redding Rancheria and look forward to many more years here. “

Raven was born in Susanville, CA. She moved to the Mojave Desert for a short period of time before relocating to Redding at the age of about 5, where she has lived ever since. She attended Chico State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management.

These days, she enjoys spending her time with her kids and tries to get to the coast whenever possible.

All-time favorite Disney character?

I would have to say Goofy. He is always funny and sincere.

If animals could talk, which one do you think would be the funniest?

Probably a cat. They seem like they would have a very sarcastic and dry sense of humor.

If you had to live in a movie universe, which one would it be?

I think Zootopia would be amazing as there are all varieties of landscapes and creatures.

What’s the most interesting historical figure you’d love to meet?

Martin Luther King Jr. – he had an amazing way with words and wished for peace for all. He was against the division of our people and focused on bringing everyone together.

What’s the coolest gadget or piece of technology you’ve ever used?

Nothing crazy. Xerox printers are life though.

One musical instrument you would like to master?

I have not played any instruments so I would need to start from scratch. But I would love to play Piano.

What are you proud of?

My kids

Any advice for future award winners?

Show up and make an effort. If you have an idea share it. You hold so much value in our organization and your ideas matter.

Pat Lilya-Working Together

“I feel truly honored to be recognized as an award winner, as it highlights that with dedication to one’s work and collaboration with a team, anything can be accomplished.”

Pat is originally from Northern Minnesota, having moved to San Jose in 1966 where she ran a trucking business. In 1977, she relocated to Northern California. She began working for the Pit River Tribe (Pi-Ma-Pa Health Consortium) in 1984, staying there until 2003. In 2004, she moved to Redding and started her journey with the Redding Rancheria, working in the finance department.

She finds immense joy in serving the community and always looks forward to learning something new each day.

Another source of joy for her is exploring new places and traveling. In the near future, she is excited to finally take a long-awaited European vacation.

Brandy Gemmill-Embracing Change

I feel very proud of myself after winning the guiding values award. I enjoy my job, and I love working with everyone at the Redding Rancheria.

Brandy was born in Shasta County and has lived there her entire life. She is currently attending school to complete her degree in Early Childhood Education.

Brandy enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family and loved ones.

Favorite sport?

I love watching my nephews and niece play soccer and softball.

All-time favorite Disney character?

My favorite Disney character is Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

If animals could talk, which one do you think would be the funniest?

I think kittens or puppies would be entertaining because they’re playful and sassy.

If you had to live in a movie universe, which one would it be?

I would like to live in a universe that had magic.

Jesica Titus-Doing What’s Right

“After winning the award, I feel incredibly grateful to work for a company that makes it a priority to show its employees how much they are valued. “

Jesica Titus was born and raised in Shasta County. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science for Hospital Administration Management and is an AAPC Certified Professional Coder. Jesica enjoys traveling, making wire jewelry, and spending time with her family, especially her five grandchildren.

Kasey Martindale-Respecting Differences

“I feel deeply honored and grateful to be recognized with the Guiding Value Award. This award reaffirms my commitment to serving Indigenous clients, my community, and advocating for those in need. It is both humbling and motivating to be able continue this important work. “

Kasey is an enrolled member of the Astugewi Band of the Pit River Tribe and a descendant of the Northern California Wintu Tribe. She moved to the Redding area after graduating high school at the age of 17. Currently, she is attending Cal Poly Humboldt, pursuing a Bachelor’s in Social Work.

She plans to apply to the MSW program this fall, with the goal of pursuing a career as an LCSW.

Favorite Sport?

My favorite sport is Softball. I began playing at 9 years old. However, I enjoy watching football the most.

All time favorite Disney character?

I would say that my all-time favorite Disney character would probably be Maleficent.

If animals could talk, which one do you think would be the funniest?

If animals could talk, I think a goat would probably be the funniest. They’re kind of spunky.

What’s the most random talent you have?

I enjoy beading when I have free time.

What are you proud of?

I would say that I am most proud of my three children, my step-son Kasey Jr., my daughter Aubree, and my youngest, Liam.

Any advice for future award winners?

The advice I would give future guiding award winners would be, to stay true to your personal values, lead with compassion, and remain dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the work you do. Focus on serving others with integrity, and the recognition will follow naturally. Keep learning, growing, and uplifting those around you!
