The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Registered Dental Hygienist.
Out of Area Differential Pay is available for this position to incentivize qualified staff to commute from a longer distance. This will allow Trinity Health Care patients to receive better quality care.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a part of an interdisciplinary team, the dental hygienist is a dental health specialist that prevents and treats oral and systemic disease through education and therapies for overall patient wellbeing. Responsibilities include the following: assess oral health, identify signs of disease, create treatment plans, and provide preventative and non-surgical therapies.
REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Registered Dental Hygienist in the State of California.
- CPR Certificate.
- X-ray License.
- Tuberculosis screening, Hepatitis A & B.
- Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
- Indian preference.
- Must be fingerprinted and pass background check.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Performs all skills as defined by the RRIHC Scope of Services.
- Review health histories and taking vitals to identify medical risk level and any conditions that would influence treatments.
- Expose, evaluate and interpret diagnostic radiographs.
- Produce high quality intra-oral and extra-oral photographs for diagnostic records.
- Preliminary examination including periodontal charting, intra and extra oral examination of the soft tissues, charting lesions, existing restorations and missing teeth, classify occlusion and myofunctional evaluation.
- Assess oral health and identify signs of gingival and periodontal disease.
- Collaborate with other dental and/or medical providers to synthesize information to plan, implement and evaluate dental hygiene care.
- Perform dental prophylaxis by removing plaque, calculus and stain to maintain oral health
- Perform hand and/or ultrasonic scaling, root planning, and soft tissue curettage as non-surgical therapies to treat periodontal disease.
- Perform supportive periodontal therapy to achieve an acceptable level of stability and health after periodontal treatment.
- Apply pit and fissure sealants to prevent tooth decay.
- Apply fluoride varnish treatments as a preventative service.
- Apply desensitizing agents to coronal and root surfaces as needed for sensitivity
- Apply anti-microbial agents as needed.
- Apply silver diamine fluoride for caries control and management.
- Polish and contour restorations.
- Administer topical and local anesthetic agents for pain control.
- Administer nitrous oxide and oxygen when needed as an anxiolytic.
- Promote oral health by educating patients and caregivers with an emphasis on oral disease processes, bacteria etiology, diet and nutrition.
- Assess oral home care routines and create a custom regimen based on patient needs.
- Inform patients and caregivers on the oral systemic link of many health conditions and illnesses.
- Research and evaluate oral health care products and treatment for safety and efficacy.
- Scheduling of all appointment types to optimize Dentist’s and Hygienist’s schedules to be efficient, productive and manageable.
- Documenting treatment and planned care in electronic health records with appropriate CDT and ICD coding.
- Remain up to date with current universal precautions and sterilization techniques to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases.
- Work at other Redding Rancheria health campuses as needed.
