Infant/Toddler Early Childhood Education Teacher

The Redding Rancheria is seeking a Infant/Toddler Early Childhood Education Teacher. The preferred schedule for this position is Monday – Friday 7:15 am to 3:45 pm.

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for planning and implementing the daily classroom plans and activities of the classroom.  Major emphasis is on developmentally appropriate practices, safety and positive classroom management.

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must have or obtain within 6 months:
    1. California Child Development Teacher Permit
    2. AA degree in ECE (or equivalent with ECE units) required.
  2. Minimum two years of experience with infant and toddler children.
  3. 12 ECE units in Infant and Toddler care/development.
  4. Must pass physical examination, including tuberculosis screening, on initial hire and annually thereafter.
  5. Must be fingerprinted, pass background check, drug tests and DMV clearance.
  6. Must have valid California driver’s license and clear driving record.
  7. Must have and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification.
  8. Office/Word. Must be able to learn and fully utilize program data base (Child Plus) and web based assessment program (Teaching Strategies Gold).
  9. Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  10. Must be fluent in computer skills including at a minimum: internet, email, Microsoft

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Teaching basic skills such as color, shape, numbers, and letter recognition
  2. Planning and carrying out curriculum
  3. Helping children develop positive self-images and experience success
  4. Encouraging the exploration of interests and developmental social skills
  5. Developing schedules and routines ensuring physical activity, rest, and playtime
  6. Teaching children how to play fairly with others
  7. Optimizing children’s developmental, intellectual, and social achievements in class activities
  8. Providing leadership and guidance to other staff and colleagues
  9. Creating and leading a supportive, nurturing learning environment that encourages responsibility and motivation. Understands and implements safety rules, emergency procedures and established policies and procedures.
  10. Observe and document your observations of individual children in the group setting; refer to the Admin Team any children with special needs such as developmental delay or disability, speech impairments, attention deficit disorder, inappropriate anger, etc.
  11. Responsible for the ongoing assessment of individual children’s developmental level.
  12. Maintains individual child records, long and short-term goals.
  13. Maintain required records such as; attendance records, meal/bottle count, diaper count, and child observations.
  14. Assist in toilet training when applicable.
  15. Cultivate and maintain a positive professional working relationship with parents, other family members and/or childcare givers.   Encourage and facilitate regular two-way communication.
  16. Assess literacy needs of families enrolled.
  17. Takes a primary role in the coaching of parent classroom volunteers and tribal youth workers.  Plans meaningful and appropriate activities for volunteers to supervise and/or deliver.
  18. Follows the Code of Ethical Conduct as established by the NAEYC in interactions with staff, children, parents and others in the community.
  19. Recognize the significance of Native American Culture and Wintu/Pit River/Yana culture in particular.  Seek out community resources or research Native American reference books to find appropriate values and activities to include in daily curriculum
  20. As mandated reporter, identify and report suspected child abuse to proper authorities following established guidelines.
